Fourteen years have passed since
UPH first came into existence as one of
Indonesia's pioneering centers for total transformative and holistic education.
It has been a period of grace from our merciful God by whose blessings we have seen tremendous progress in every layer of the education system under Pelita Harapan Foundation.
We see so much progress in the world today in democracy, human rights, knowledge, technology and economic growth. This progress may decline if we do not properly respond to the underlying problems of terrorism, hatred, AIDS, immorality, families breaking down, and so many other issues affecting global peace and stability. Todays universities have to address these issues.
We need to prepare our children not to merely enter the world to be rich and happy, but prepare them realistically to be a part of the solution.
We at
UPH pray and hope that our system of education and best practices, as well as our faculty members, will empower students in such a way that they will have a heart and calling to be part of the solution for the world.
We humbly raise my heart in gratitude over God's.Blessing in the form of a clear vision and calling for education and university development through Pelita Harapan Foundation.God's work through this educational foundation has been carried out by many hands, including our co-workers, as well as our young people students who are highly talented and blessed with great potential, yet have been so good in understanding our shortcomings in the execution of this educational mission.
To God be the glory for ever, because it is only by His blessings that
UPH has sailed the academic ocean this far in performing its mission of developing True Knowledge, Faith in God and Godly Character. May this university grow further to be one of the best models of a genuine university that is solidly based on God's truth.
UPH has also witnessed increased recognition from many parts of the world as evidenced by a steady increase in the number of foreign and local students joining the university every year. Our campus is now the second home for students from at least 10 countries.
UPH has over the past year become the focus of attention in
Indonesia and abroad, due to its rapid expansion in terms of institution, management, infrastructure, and academic development.
Institutionally,
UPH has established various types of academic collaboration with world-class universities in
Asia, Australia, the United States, and Europe. In terms of management, UPH is adopting more and more of the world's best university practices.
Robust development of infrastructure is further evidence of
UPH's commitment to world-class education. One more outstanding point to mention is the opening of
UPH City of Tomorrow Campus in the East Java capital city of
Surabaya as part of our commitment to spread higher education
opportunities more evenly across
Indonesia.
UPH believes that good education must be comprehensive and holistic in nature in that it deals with the entire structure of human existence. The university strives to reach the peak of knowledge and wisdom in every field and in the broadest sense possible. Yet in doing so, its endeavors are founded on the awareness that there is One Supreme Being, the Alfa and Omega, God the Creator of heaven and earth, who is the Supreme Source of all wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
We believe that implementation of this philosophy in our educational endeavors will lead to generations of better leaders for the future of
Indonesia and the world at large.
