PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Bank Danamon) was established in 1956 with the name of PT Bank Kopra Indonesia. In 1976 its name to Bank Danamon Indonesia until now. Bank Danamon become the first private foreign exchange bank in Indonesia in 1976 and the Company's Open in 1989.
In 1997, as a result of the monetary crisis in Asia, Bank Danamon experienced liquidity problems and was taken over by the Badan Penyehatan Perbankan Nasional (BPPN) as the bank BTO. In 1999, the Indonesian government through BPPN recapitulate Bank Danamon with government bonds worth Rp 32 trillion. At that time also, a bank BTO merge to the Company as part of the program pembenahan BPPN.
In 2000, eight other BTO banks merge in Bank Danamon. However, as the Surviving entity, Bank Danamon risen to become one of the pillars of national banks.
Over the next three years, Bank Danamon to the restructuring includes broad management, human, organizational, systems, values and identity of company behavior. This work successfully put a new foundation and infrastructure for the Company to achieve growth based on transparency, responsibilitas, integrity and professionalism (Trip).
In 2003, Bank Danamon was taken over by the Consortium on Asia Finance Indonesia as the shareholder controllers. With the new management control, capital, and 180-day mapping business capital and a new strategy, Bank Danamon continues to undergo changes transformasional that is designed to dijadikannya as a leading national bank and the regional superior.
